Happy Mother's Day?

There are some holidays that the 'chick doesn't believe are worth the effort.

Mother's Day is one of them.

If you would like to do something nice for your mother, do the laundry. Or clean the house. Hell, clean the bathroom or pick up your dirty socks.

Rockboy asked the 'chick forty-eleven times what she wanted for Mother's Day and the 'chick answer was the same every time:

Nothing. Because next you're going to ask to borrow money and that spoils the entire exercise.

So, Rockboy, thinking ahead as always (by 5 minutes) stopped at the gas station on his way home Saturday night and bought 3 dead roses in a cellophane sleeve and then WOKE the 'chick up to present them to her.

Happy Mother's Day, y'all.

Hey, he tried. I've yet to receive any kind of queen for a day, either. Birthdays are more my thing, I think.

Fringes~ Yeah, he tried. There's a whole level of annoyance involved that didn't make it into the post just because sometimes the dirty laundry actually DOES manage to stay in the hamper and the dead roses were icing on that bitter, bitter cake.

I bought my mother a solar windchime and pjs. She seemed to like both. I don't live with her but I scoped the litter box while I was over there. I'm pretty sure she liked that the best.

Susan~ Solar windchime? Um . . . doesn't the wind make the windchime work? ~confused look~ Scooping the cat box is ALWAYS a good gift. Too bad the 'chick didn't get that either.

Somehow I think dads get a better deal with Father's Day...

OMG that's priceless. I think it is an extension from those childhood days where they would present two black singles of bread and something that sort of looked like it has once been an egg - leaving you the messy kitchen to clean up.

Jess~ Dads definitely have an easier time of just kicking back not doing ANYTHING on their "special" day. Moms still have to keep everything going.

Autrice~ As long as it doesn't involve being woken up at 1 am, black toast would be ok.
